Market-leading solution for high-end rear light systems

Elmos and odelo present a video clip, which shows an OLED rear light with its various control possibilities and light effects. The video clip shows a rear light demonstrator, which was built for presentation purposes. The rear light is controlled by a programmable 8-channel Elmos LED driver.

This IC can be programmed via a bus. Both the master current source and individual PWM values of each of the 8 high-side outputs are adjustable. Each channel can deliver up to 50mA, if higher current is needed the channels can be bundled. Through local networking, individual strings can be efficiently combined with multiple clusters without the need for additional clusters. In addition, a high degree of diagnostics is available for over- and undervoltage at the input, temperature, LED forward voltage and single open / short detection of each output.

In addition, the value of the master current source and the PWM trim value of each output can be calibrated and internally stored in the EEPROM so that light losses by mechanical constructions or losses in optical fibers are compensated. Dimming by an analog voltage or by an external PWM is also possible.
