Semiconductors for Automotive and Industrial Applications

Elmos will present an excerpt of the product portfolio at the embedded world 2017 (14 to 16 March 2017, Nuremberg/Germany). We will exhibit ICs for the reliable operation of USB interfaces in the vehicle as well as driver for stepper and BLDC motors. You will find Elmos in Hall 4A, booth 639.

With the E522.43 IC, Elmos is presenting a USB-2.0 compatible power supply with comprehensive protection functions for use in vehicles. Thanks to the extensive pin configuration options and automatic detection of the dedicated BC1.2 charging ports and the removal of the connected USB device, this component is particularly well suited for standalone applications without an external microcontroller. The integrated circuit supports all USB charging downstream loads in accordance with the "Battery Charging Specification Revision 1.2" and also emulates the currently known specific USB chargers. A current dependent increase in the BUS voltage (negative resistance) allows for an optimal charging process even for large currents with wire losses.

With the E523.30/39, Elmos presents motor drivers for bipolar stepper motors. The components feature a sensorless end position/ stall detection. Moreover, the IC can be additionally connected to up to 3 Hall sensors or potentiometers for highest demands on the motor’s position detection. The Elmos component can be directly integrated into the actuator, thus saving space. Potential fields of use or applications for the E523.30/39 are stepper and DC drive systems as well as various automotive applications such as the active air flow elements, headlight, curve light, or valves driver.

With the E523.52 IC, Elmos is presenting a fully integrated motor controller for brushless DC (BLDC) motors for 48V electrical system. The E532.52 can be operated with a supply voltage of up to 72V. It integrates a powerful 16-bit microcontroller with special motor controller hardware support. The IC controls 3 NMOS half bridges for motor powers up to approx. 1000 W. The integrated DC/DC buck converter is designed for voltages of 11V/100mA for gate drivers and other loads. Furthermore, this chip also features various monitoring and diagnostics functions for the MosFets.
